It may take longer than I would have thought  If the heart grows stronger, if the thief is really caught But I see more clearly as the picture turns to gray Love is running over me No use waiting for a better time to come  Giving in to fate, giving in to rule of thumb But the world grows smaller as the moon betrays the day Love is running over me, I can’t get out of its way  Love is running over me I can’t help wondering Who I'm gonna be  When the word comes down and surprises me It may be farther than I ever thought I'd go To find what’s darker than the devil I know It opens slowly, no matter what I say Love is running over me, I can’t get out of its way Love is running over me I can’t help wondering Who I'm gonna be  When the word comes down and surprises me

On and On 03:48
Years go by while you and I count the days passing by Hope for good ones up ahead Older now and things I thought so important yesterday Never mattered anyway When the road turns out not to be the one I started on   Where bridges tend to rust Take my hand then I’ll take my first step it goes on and on Times are hard, I can be too  I know I can count on you to get me through When the darkness gets inside your head  I will shine a light instead, say the words to you When the road turns out not to be the one I started on   Where bridges tend to rust Take my hand then I’ll take my next step It goes on and on   Wherever it may take us There is no turning ‘round Years go by while you and I are changing and marking time Come whatever Still the road it winds through the night, then sunrise Not knowing where it ends When the road turns out not to be the one I started on   Where bridges tend to rust Take my hand then I’ll take my next step It goes on and on  When the road turns and drives me off my course You will lift me up Take my hand ’til I take my last breath  Cause it goes on and on

Garrett 03:15
Garrett was arrested, spent the night in jail In the morning, he was due to be arraigned Alleged trafficking in methamphetamine The judge sentenced him to 90 days He was sent to a correctional facility Where he counted down the days He was only thirty-five On that Wednesday when he died And the story gets less clear by the day In shock inside his cell Garrett’s roommate screamed for help He hasn’t had his medicine in days Before the guards arrived He’d already died And the story gets less clear by the day Seems that no one has an answer Just what happened on that day What a man he might have been If he’d got that insulin Garrett lived, he was tried, Garrett died

Man on the brink Leave me alone I’m not what you think I never leave home How bad will it get? Ain’t no surprise Right before your eyes Man on the brink Nowhere to go No time to think No seeds left to sow A nudge and a wink To those standing by Sinker, hook, and line Maybe I just need a little more respect I’m no good at working on a broken heart I believe that I was once in love with heights Now it seems so strange to follow Steps I’d rather own than borrow Night is black and dreams are shallow The earth is flat, the sky is hollow Man on the brink Wearing my shoes Nothing to drink Paid all my dues How bad will it get? Ain’t no surprise Right before your eyes Man on the brink

Wait 05:06
The stars up in the sky look very different tonight And the look that’s in your eyes is in contrast To the story you stick by When you swear the sky’s not blue, I believe you I’ll follow you Would you wait if I asked you to? Dig up all the demons in the past for you There’s always one who gets the hurt The only one that always hurts Love is like a rose in bloom You can hold it tight, but it might cut you too Dying on the vine to do what’s right Biding time, her petals fading in the light And when you swear the sky is blue, I believe you I’ll follow you Would you wait if I asked you to? Dig up all the demons in the past for you There’s always one who gets the hurt The only one that always hurts Would you wait?

Why do you need a gun? To prove that you’re number one All your friends step aside Ego controls your pride Could you really take a life? Just to prove who’s wrong or right Little life left in your eyes All around you in despise Does it make you feel like a man? Feel the trigger burning in your hand A future you can’t escape Soon to be your biggest mistake No looking back once it’s done The boy, now he’s got a gun Now you feel like a big man Laid it out, now what’s the plan? Play it right, don’t plan it wrong No escaping when you’ve played along Only need to live for today So afraid they’ll take it away Take a shot, get your turn to pay And get your picture on the front page Why do you need a gun? Did it make you the favorite son? Your momma doesn’t understand Or trust you enough to shake your hand Does it make you feel like a man? Spell your name out with a Krylon can A future you can’t escape Proved to be your biggest mistake No looking back since it’s done The boy, now he’s got a gun

I slammed my rig down Pulled her in to get unwound Seven days on the road About to be unraveled There’s a waitress at this diner And she waits here just for me to tell her One of these lonely nights She can tag along All the truckers passing through Her reflection in the chrome, she knew that Freedom’s a lie That she could not forgive But that asphalt river’s flowing Gotta get my diesel rolling There’s a place in my heart Where she can stow-away She knows that I’ll be returning So she keeps the truck stop lights burning Roll on Roll on The highway takes me far From my truck stop sweetheart The cold blue desert winds Leads me back to where I’ve been Well it all just looks the same It feels like I ain’t traveling Well I’m thinking about that girl Her pink polyester curls And the coffee that she spills And the sentence that she serves She knows that I’ll be returning So she keeps the truck stop lights burning Roll on Roll on The highway takes me far From my truck stop sweetheart That asphalt river’s flowing Gotta get my diesel rolling There’s a place in my heart Where she can stow-away She knows that I’ll be returning So she keeps the truck stop lights burning Roll on Roll on The highway takes me far From my truck stop sweetheart The highway takes me far From my truck stop sweetheart

Broken Sides 03:09
Comes a time when you choose a side Meetings held by the riverside Raised the old flag to show their pride Hooray? Colors fly at the capitol Bearing symbols and wearing white robes Lighting torches so everyone knows Who you oppose I don’t wanna live in a world like this Time to change, change with it Streams of hate, social wars Change is coming, let’s get on with it No love on a broken side Hate builds up and divides Crying tears that now turn red And the fear like a virus spreads Somebody’s gonna lose their head Some of us are gonna wind up dead Go ahead, kneel and pray I hope it helps you on this stolen day I don’t wanna live in a world like this Time to change, change with it Streams of hate, culture wars Change is coming, let’s get on with it I don’t wanna live in a world like this I don’t wanna die with the world like this Change your hearts Change your minds Change is coming don’t be left behind

Last Train 03:08
Last train, waiting on a friend Last train, just waiting here for my friend Brakeman is burning matches to even up the score Railman put down latches Train don’t come through here no more Last train, just waiting on a friend Last train, waiting here for my friend Used to come unload these troubles right up on my door Now the sound of whistles blowing won’t worry me no more The tracks that used to run through my life are covered up in stones Baby took all her tickets and throws them on the floor You won’t need her old suitcase The train don’t come through here no more

about

Being isolated during the pandemic had a silver lining for me. I was able to finish up some songs that had been waiting around for the right moment to fully reveal themselves. In doing that, I was inspired to write a few new ones. I present them to you here with the hope that you'll enjoy them and spread the word.
